Lazim Destani, Honorary President of the Chamber
Diaspora Business Chamber (DBC) is the newest Albanian strategic institution aiming to support and engage the Albanian diaspora business community on the economic development of Albania. The DBC was inaugurated on 27 November 2019 by Albanian State Minister for Diaspora and Albanian National Fund of Diaspora. Along a number of Albanian Diaspora businesspersons, the event was attended by Albanian State Minister for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, Minister of State for Protection of Entrepreneurship, Eduart Shalsi, Mayor of Tirana, Erion Veliaj and other state authorities as well.
Now, all the Albanian entrepreneurs around the world have a common meeting point in Albania, Albanian Diaspora Business Chamber. This is an institution that aims to establish a network of cooperation between Albania and Albanian investors by creating a spirit of nation-wide economic cooperation.
The opening ceremony began with the inauguration of the offices followed by the first meeting of the Chamber Members where the chairmanship of this new institution was elected. Ardian Lekaj was elected Chairman, while Honorary President of the Chamber, Lazim Destani.
The Minister of State for Diaspora, Pandeli Majko, expressed his delight at seeing founded the Albanian Diaspora Business Chamber. On this occasion, he thanked the Albanian Diaspora businesses that became members of this Chamber, offering them full support from the Ministry he heads. “Founding of the Albanian Diaspora Business Chamber is very important for its role of approaching Albanian entrepreneurs towards their country of origin aiming to bring their business experiences from the western world so as to positively affect the economic development of the country”, said Minister Majko.
While the Honorary President of the Chamber, Lazim Destani, through his greeting speech highly appreciated the initiative to create this Chamber and he sees it as an opportunity for cooperation among all Diaspora entrepreneurs. He also appraised the determination of this Ministry to building sustainable economic policies, notably the role of State Minister for Diaspora for his initiative to restructure the doing-business Regulations. “I personally, and our Group of businesses anywhere, remain committed to contribute in order to make these processes move forward”, Destani said.
The Chairman of the Albanian Diaspora Business Chamber, Ardian Lekaj, welcomed the attendees and spoke about the importance of the Chamber in bringing Albanian diaspora businessmen closer to one-another and creating better investment opportunities in Albania. “As a new institution, this Chamber will help and support all Albanian Diaspora entrepreneurs by facilitating their investment procedures in Albania,” said Lekaj.
